The Enterprise Center seeks a Field Assistant in the West Tennessee region to work across two statewide programs offering digital skills training, in partnership with local organizations - one program customized for older adults and another for early childhood educators. The work will be concentrated in the following counties, with occasional travel to other West Tennessee counties: Chester, Decatur, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, & Tipton. Occasional travel to the greater Nashville area may also be necessary. The programs, Tech Goes Home TN for Older Adults and Tech Goes Home TN for Early Child Care Agencies & Educators, are expansions of The Enterprise Center’s digital inclusion program, Tech Goes Home Tennessee. This position is funded through contracts with West End Home Foundation, Tennessee Department of Human Services, and Signal Centers, Inc.
Since 2015, Tech Goes Home Tennessee has trained more than 6,375 people in digital skills, including over 300 seniors and 220 early childhood educators in the last year alone. Older adults who have completed the program have reported meaningful impact, including increased ease in completing tasks online and improved communication with family and friends. Similarly, graduates of the early childhood educator program have reported that the classes opened up professional possibilities, including continued education and certifications. At Tech Goes Home, we believe that digital literacy is vitally important to all people. We are looking for a field assistant who shares that belief and is passionate about helping adults of all ages to safely and confidently engage in personal and professional opportunities online.
Duties across both programs will include:
Helping to monitor the implementation of TGH TN’s policies, procedures, and program improvements at specified partner locations across the designated region;
Working with TGH TN staff, trainers, and partner organizations to coordinate, store, and deliver devices
Troubleshooting internet and technology issues for class host sites
Contributing content and stories for TGH TN social media accounts
Assisting with ongoing participant recruitment efforts and outreach to the community via meetings, social media, newsletters, etc.
Duties specific to Tech Goes Home TN for Older Adults will include:
Serving as the local contact for designated partner organizations’ staff and trainers before, during, and after classes
Communicating with and managing designated trainers during program sessions
Assisting with data collection, evaluation and record maintenance in platforms including Google Sheets, Survey Monkey, and Mail Chimp; and
Meeting regularly with partner organizations to facilitate program delivery and to evaluate programming
Providing one-on-one internet consultation to program participants to educate them on their affordable home internet options and help them get connected.
Providing regular reports to TGH TN staff
Duties specific to Tech Goes Home TN for Early Child Care Agencies & Educators will include:
Teaching early child care educators and agency owners how to effectively use a computer and various softwares and apps to perform work-related tasks, using the Tech Goes Home curriculum
Working with the Technology Coordinator to ensure participants receive a computer in a timely manner
Working with the Help Desk staff to ensure agency and educator questions are answered in a timely manner
Working with CCR&R staff, especially the Small Business Specialist, in the region and attending required regional and statewide staff meetings
The ideal candidate should possess the following experience:
Proficiency in basic computer functions - Google Docs, Google Sheets, and other Google Suite apps
Proficiency in programs similar to: Survey Monkey, Canva, and Mailchimp
Proficiency in basic internet and computer troubleshooting
Experience with teaching adult learners
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated independent, flexible, and adaptable worker
BA/BS Degree or relevant equivalent experience

This position works remotely, and travels frequently throughout the Southwest Tennessee region. Regular use of a personal vehicle and maintenance of personal auto insurance in accordance with TN state law is required.
About The Enterprise Center and Tech Goes Home Chattanooga The Enterprise Center is dedicated to making the Chattanooga and Hamilton County region a place where technology helps people live better lives. It is the parent organization of Tech Goes Home Tennessee. This is a full-time position with benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) contributions. You will also receive mileage reimbursement for any work-related travel and, when applicable, overnight lodging. The salary is $45,000 - $50,000. The start date is negotiable, but we would like to have our new hire in place by September 6, 2022. The deadline to apply is August 19, 2022.
