A Chromebook is a Google-based laptop that you use primarily when you are online, so users do not typically save files onto the device. Users’ work is mainly saved ‘in the cloud.’
Microsoft vs. Google vs. Apple
Microsoft, Google, and Apple all offer different productivity applications ("apps"), each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
To create a Google account, you'll need to provide some basic information. Once you create and verify your account, you'll be able to use Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, and more.
1. Click "Get Started". 2. If you have a Gmail account, enter your username and password. 3. To create a new account, select More Options/Create New Account. 4. Enter your name and birthdate. 5. Create a recognizable username; usernames aren't case sensitive. (Click the eyeball to see what you're typing!) 6. Create a password only you could guess; include numbers or symbols for extra protection. 7. The system will ask you to confirm your phone number so that it can send you a confirmation text. Open the text, and select the number that matches the one on the screen. 8. When prompted, decide if you'd like Google Assistant turned on (It's like Siri or Alexa). 9. Click through the terms until you've reached the home screen/desktop. 10. MAKE SURE YOUR NEW USERNAME AND PASSWORD ARE WRITTEN DOWN OR ARE SAVED IN YOUR PHONE.
