What is “telehealth” or “telemedicine”?
Telehealth is an innovative, cost-effective approach to healthcare that allows patients to connect with doctors and other healthcare providers remotely. With telehealth, patients can access medical care from the comfort of their own homes, saving time and money while avoiding unnecessary trips to the doctor’s office. For most telehealth care, you need access to the internet through a computer, smartphone, or tablet. According to the Center for Connected Health Policy, a Public Health Institute program, there are four different types of telehealth:
