What is a Chromebook? Chromebooks are a new type of computer designed to help you get things done faster and easier. They run ChromeOS, an operating system that has cloud storage, the best of Google built-in, and multiple layers of security. They are considered to be less expensive, safer, and more user-friendly.
Setting up your Chromebook
From plugging it in, to signing out, this video demonstrates how to set up and sign in to a Chromebook for the first time.
Logging on to your Chromebook
1. Click Get Started. 2. If you have a Gmail account, enter your username and password. 3. To create a new account, select More Options/Create New Account. 4. Enter your name and birthdate. 5. Create a recognizable username; usernames aren't case sensitive. (Click the eyeball to see what you're typing!) 6. Create a password only you could guess; include numbers or symbols for extra protection. 7. The system will ask you to confirm your phone number so that it can send you a confirmation text. Open the text, and select the number that matches the one on the screen. 8. When prompted, decide if you'd like Google Assistant turned on (It's like Siri or Alexa). 9. Click through the terms until you've reached the home screen/desktop. 10. MAKE SURE YOUR NEW USERNAME AND PASSWORD ARE WRITTEN DOWN OR ARE SAVED IN YOUR PHONE.
